WELCOME TO ARTHRITIS CARE
Christopher J. Huyck, NM, FACR and the staff of ARTHRITIS CARE are dedicated to comprehensive and compassionate care for people with Arthritis and related Rheumatic Diseases. As we strive to provide you with the highest quality Rheumatology care possible and to be optimally responsive to your needs, it is important that you be fully engaged with us in that care.
OFFICE HOURS & SCHEDULING
ARTHRITIS CARE is open for patient care by appointment from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. We accept physician referrals as well as self referrals. The time set aside for your appointment is very valuable, so our policy is that once an appointment has been made it is considered a confirmed appointment. If for any reason you cannot keep that appointment, except an emergency, we require 48 hour notice or a charge will be incurred for the time set aside. This will discourage unnecessary late cancellations and “no shows” and allow optimal use of office time to care for the many patients that seek attention. Once you become an established patient of the practice, we feel that we can accommodate your needs on short notice, including getting you into the office to be seen very quickly.
THE OFFICE VISIT
We want to make your visit to the office as pleasant and as comfortable as possible. We strive to provide you with a relaxed and stress free environment and to keep any waiting time to a minimum.A new patient consultation requires a minimum of one hour and most follow up visits take between 10 and 30 minutes.
As a new patient, please bring your completed registration materials with you. If you have not been able to complete them in advance, please arrive early to allow adequate time to complete them in the office. We request that you inform us immediately if here has been any change in your insurance plan, referring doctor, or personal address, phone number or other important biographical information. Please bring your referral, if required, with you or confirm that we have received it. Please also bring any medical records needed from your referring doctor. Always bring an accurate and complete list of your medications, or the medication themselves.
We will often attempt to combine other services with the office visit. Sometimes they must be scheduled separately. These other services include joint and soft tissue procedures, X-rays, DXA scans, Nerve Conduction Tests and laboratory tests. All office visits include obtaining a history, performing a physical examination, reviewing records and results of studies, discussion of the problem, prescription of medications and other treatments, and coordination of further testing and services.
We require an office visit in order to complete any disability, parking, jury duty, out of work, back to work or any other forms or narrative summaries that either you or your representative may request. There is an administrative fee to cover the cost of this service.
PATIENT QUESTIONS AND EMERGENCIES
The entire staff of ARTHRITIS CARE are dedicated to serving our patients. Our telephone lines are open during regular office hours and there is 24 hour coverage available every day for emergencies.
When you call the office during regular office hours you will be referred to the appropriate staff to respond to your specific inquiry. However, we strongly request that you try to bring your questions to us at the time of your office visit rather than calling, in order to free up our phone lines and allow our staff to use their time for emergent problems. Billing questions can be answered by calling our billing office at 348-1276.
Please understand that all staff at ARTHRITIS CARE function under the direct supervision of the physician. If you are given information, particularly of a clinical nature, it has been discussed with and cleared by the doctor. We request that, when at all possible, you use your office visit time to review the results of tests rather than request test results over the phone. Except for obvious emergencies, we cannot guarantee that we can engage in clinical conversations with you outside of the scheduled appointment.
If for any reason you have difficulty communicating with us or are dissatisfied with your care, we invite you to share your concerns with us. We want to assure you that your opinions are very important and will help us to create better health services for you.
